People-Centered Policy Convening

December 2 - 4, 2026 at the UCLA Labor Center

Join Workshop for three days of learning, connection, and collaboration with people working to put workers and communities at the center of policymaking.

The People-Centered Policy Convening will bring together our cohort and partners to share experiences, work through challenges, and explore strategies for advancing worker priorities. Grounded in the insights of leaders on the ground, the gathering will offer space to strengthen campaigns, deepen relationships, and reflect on the work ahead.

About the Convening

How can the experiences of workers and communities shape policy from its earliest design through implementation? What can we learn from campaigns navigating similar challenges? And how can we put those lessons into practice?

Together, we’ll explore these questions through peer learning, practical training, and small-group conversations. Participants will share what they’re trying, where they’re encountering obstacles, and what they’re learning along the way.

We’ll also make time to step back, recharge, and connect over shared meals and informal conversations. Our goal is for participants to leave with useful ideas, stronger relationships, and a clearer sense of how to advance people-centered policy in their own work.

What to Expect

  • Learning across campaigns: Exchange strategies and tactics with peers tackling similar challenges in policy design, implementation, and emerging issues such as AI and data centers.

  • Practical skill building: Explore narrative and communications approaches that help convey your campaign’s purpose, progress, and priorities.

  • Collaborative problem solving: Bring questions from your work and draw on the experience of fellow participants.

  • Meaningful connections: Build relationships across the cohort and with policy practitioners, movement leaders, and philanthropic partners.

  • Time for reflection: Consider what’s working, what support you need, and how the cohort’s shared lessons can strengthen your next steps.
